Marching Mizzou has had the honor of representing the university and the United States on the world stage multiple times. One of the band’s most cherished traditions is its participation in Dublin’s St. Patrick’s Festival Parade, a grand event that brings together performers from around the world to celebrate Irish heritage and culture. Over the past decade, Marching Mizzou has made this transatlantic journey three times—in 2012, 2016, and most recently, in 2024—solidifying its role as an international ambassador of Mizzou.
A Musical Connection to Ireland
Adding to the significance of these performances, one of Mizzou’s fight songs, “Every True Son,” shares a musical connection with the famous Irish tune “It’s a Long Way to Tipperary.” This connection deepens the ties between Marching Mizzou and Irish musical traditions, making their performances in Ireland even more special and meaningful.

In addition to their performance in the 2016 St. Patrick's Festival Parade in Dublin, Marching Mizzou also participated in the Limerick International Marching Band Festival and Competition, where they were distinguished as the International Band Champions. Beyond the two parades, band members once again had the chance to experience the magic of Ireland, visiting landmarks such as the Cliffs of Moher and the historic streets of Dublin.
