1. What Does Joining the M2AB Board Entail?
Joining the M2AB Board is an exciting volunteer opportunity where you can help shape the future of the Mizzou Alumni Band and contribute to the Marching Mizzou community.
Here’s what you can expect:
Monthly Meetings: Board members meet monthly virtually via Zoom or Google Meet. The meetings follow Robert's Rules of Order, and a quorum of 7 out of 11 board members is needed to vote on important issues.
Attendance: While attendance is not mandatory every month, it is strongly encouraged for effective decision-making.
No Financial Cost: Serving on the board is a volunteer position, and there are no dues or fees required. However, we do encourage board members to join the Mizzou Alumni Association, though it's not required to join the board.
Term: Board members serve a three-year term starting in January 2026 and ending in December 2028. This ensures consistent leadership and a smooth transition between members.
Voting: As a board member, you’ll have the opportunity to vote on important matters that impact the alumni band, such as decisions for Homecoming, scholarships for current students, meals for students at Concert on the Quad, and more.
Committees: Board members are encouraged to participate in one of five standing committees: Operations, Finance, Membership, Communication, and Scholarship. If you can’t serve as a full-time board member, you can still join as a committee member.
